Lego Ideas (CUUSO) delivers again and this time with one of the grandfathers of radio and television science fiction – the Doctor. Who? Yes. Joking aside this long running series is heralded by many as a significant leader in popularizing science fiction and has a huge cult following.
Doctor Who is a British science-fiction television programme produced by the BBC from 1963 to the present day. The programme depicts the adventures of the Doctor, a Time Lord—a space and time-travelling humanoid alien. He explores the universe in his TARDIS, a sentient time-travelling space ship. Its exterior appears as a blue British police box, which was a common sight in Britain in 1963 when the series first aired. Accompanied by companions, the Doctor combats a variety of foes, while working to save civilisations and help people in need. [SOURCE]
For the Lego set – incredible set that has the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space), the two most recent Doctors (11th & 12th), Clara Oswald, a Weeping Angel and two Daleks. I would have liked to have seen a K-9 thrown in the mix but that may have been a reach given the Doctors they were covering. (We do see that in a Lego Dimensions Pack so not impossible to add easily.)
Doctor Who is a mix of a vehicle set with the TARDIS and a play set showing the TARDIS as being “bigger on the inside.” I doubt many kids will grab this one but it is a fun build that has no stickers – only printed bricks. Big bonus if you hate dealing with stickers as much as I do. Lots of detail and I am sure more Easter Eggs than I am aware of in the build. (I am not a huge Doctor Who fan – like it – don’t study it.)
This set is a great addition to the Ideas/CUUSO line and matches up both in detail and design to the others. They already had a visit from Leonard and Sheldon (Big Bang Theory) and the question of time-travel was settled – at least for now. Now that Sheldon has the sonic screwdriver no telling what might happen.
