Here is a picture of my Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 beside my Sony VAIO VGN-AW390 (18.4″ screen) computer for work. Both are relatively new and I am very happy to report so far so good. It isn’t really fair to compare these two machines on anything but size because they have extremely different purposes one is a simple email/web machine and the other is a desktop replacement running graphic design software. Anyway – I am still pleased with the IdeaPad that I purchased for home and love the speed of the VAIO I purchased for work. I can’t complain about either machine yet.
A quick rundown in specs – Screen Size: 10.1 vs. 18.4, Processor: Intel Atom 1.6Ghz vs. Intel Core2 Duo 3.06Ghz, Memory: 1GB vs. 8GB, Storage: 100GB vs. 320GBx2 Drives, Weight: Under 3 lbs vs. Over 8 lbs, OS: XP vs. Vista(Win7 Upgrade Included), Battery Life: 6 Hours vs. 2.5 Hours, and Optical Drive: None vs. Blu-Ray RW.
If you have any questions about either machine post them and I’ll do my best to answer. A couple more pictures after the jump.
Netbook worth the plunge?! Or hold off!?
I’m happy with it. I use it a lot for casual surfing and since I don’t have any of my data on it don’t mind connecting with it anywhere. I am probably going to increase the memory but overall it is a keeper.
