For those of you that aren’t sure a palindrome is a word, line, verse, number, sentence, etc., reading the same backward as forward, as Madam, I’m Adam or Poor Dan is in a droop. Or today’s date – 01-02-2010. The last time the date (in MM-DD-YYY format) did this was October 2, 2001. It won’t happen again until November 2, 2011 and from there the next dates are February 2, 2020, December 2, 2021, March 2, 2030, April 2, 2040, May 2, 2050, June 2, 2060, July 2, 2070 and August 2, 2080. (The last one is my birthday – I am planning a HUGE party.)
The significance? Nothing. Depending on how you write the date depends on how many of these you may find in a given time period. The more American standard of MM-DD-YYYY doesn’t really generate that many more or less than the DD-MM-YYYY format that is used (and actually makes a lot of sense) elsewhere.
Thanks to BobG’s status line for reminding me of this and this site for listing all the Palindrome Date possibilities.
